The Top 3 Commitments For 2015

This is the most exciting, most hopeful and most fun-filled moment shared across the globe! This is the time where nearly everybody has expectations…good expectations for the future. This is the time where the world collectively dreams of a better return in the days ahead. A change of fortunes, a change of seasons, an open door of boundless possibilities.

If we can tap into the magic of the moment if you will, chances are that we can make mighty empowering decisions that will help change the direction of our lives for the better. Every New Year, we as a human race are given a psychological clean slate. It is the time most people dream and make decisions. Sadly, some of these decisions do not last long. There are several reasons to this as follows:

Why Decisions Don’t Last

  1. Some Decisions are as clear as mud. Greatly generalized and not down to specifics. No clarity. But the excitement is there.
  2. Some Decisions are emotional. Made in the euphoria of the moment. Not thought out. Some are not even the true desire of the heart.
  3. Some Decisions are not supported with planning and strategizing.
  4. Some Decisions made without consultation and wise counsel.
  5. Some Decisions are inherently negative, thereby not empowering people.
  6. Some Decisions do not have a tracking mechanism to bring them to fruition
  7. Some make too many decisions

Commitment

I have talked about all these in previous posts. There is but one way that we can make lasting decisions that will positively impact our 2015. And this is by act of commitment.

I believe that your 2015 will be the best year ever if you make just but these three Major Commitments.

  1. Commitment to Purpose:

There was this time that I was recruiting people for a certain project. One of the questions I asked each of them was this: What do you want in life? Not any one of the 60 or so people I interviewed could readily and easily answer that question. If that is the case, how about the question of “What is your purpose in life?” How do you think they would have fared on? The truth of the matter is that many people do not know the purpose for their existence because they do not ask. They do not seek. They simply fit in a certain set structure of life which mostly involves finding income to pay bills. In 2015, you ought to make a commitment that you will find out your purpose in life. That you will live a themed life based upon your purpose. That you will start gravitating towards this. When you make such a commitment, the unknown becomes the known. Help will come your way and you will find an answer for what you seek. The most successful people are those who have a passionate course for which they have devoted their entire lives. You can be one of them if you get committed to a life of purpose, no matter what happens in 2015.

  1. Commitment to Excellence:

Nothing is more of a jaw dropper, show stopper and attention grabber than something done with a touch of excellence. Whatever you decide to do in 2015, make a commitment that you will dispatch the very best of your spirit, passion, perfection and excellence in it that you can muster. During the Christmas Holidays, I had some ample time with my toddlers in the house, doing lots of bonding and watching TV. As I was flipping through the channels, (that is exactly what people do everyday looking for products, services and expertise), one channel was showing Michael Jackson’s video “Earth Song”, popularly known as “What about Us.” I cannot begin to tell you how awesome that song was done. Needless to say, I stopped frozen on this channel to watch Michael Jackson although that is not what I was looking for. It was definitely not what I was looking for given that my choice of entertainment never has ‘secular’ songs and videos…but this legend got my attention. 2015 will take you places on this count alone. Why? Because there are countless people, products and services that lack the spirit of excellence. Time to take advantage and be the leader in your niche.

  1. Commitment to Finishing:

I know, I know. I have been one of them. The people that are great starters but normally find it hard to finish. It’s easy to figure out why. If you are really committed to the very meaning of this word, you will most definitely finish what you started. Many people start things not worth finishing and they finish. Others start things worth finishing and they don’t. Over the years, many people have bashed people who start and don’t finish. Today, I will not joint hat bandwagon. I think people who can get something started must be praised and congratulated for a good job done. I can tell you that although very many goals have not been achieved, starters have learnt quite a lot even having not finished what they started. And now on to finishing. It requires commitment. Decide to do very few major things in 2015 but make sure that they are finished. You would be a very happy fellow in December 2015 as a finisher, even if it is just one thing you finished.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I believe that the above 3 decisions will most definitely take you to places where you will find yourself living the best you ever had. Regardless of your starting point, decide to be committed to purpose, excellence and finishing.

Happy New Year!
