Master Mind: Why Everyone Must Be A Follower of Jesus, Lincoln and Billy Graham

A Master Mind group is the coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people who work together toward a definite purpose in the spirit of harmony…no two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third invisible and intangible force which may be likened to a third mind, or the Master Mind”

—Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich

For over two months now, I have harboured the nudge to write an article about Master Minding. True to my advice few weeks back on writing, I wrote it down and let it simmer a while. When I was ready to write about this subject, I downloaded everything that was in my heart and mind before I could go elsewhere to research about it.

You Need to Read This Book

I was astounded what I found. Believe me, I have not found a book so profound about this subject like the all-time classic, “Think and Grow Rich”. If I were you, I would stop all the traffic and get this book and read it again (or read it for the first time if you have never read it before). So strong the theme of “Master Minding” is that a former US President picked it out:

“May I not congratulate you on your persistence? Any man who devotes that much time… must of necessity make discoveries of great value to others. I am deeply impressed by your interpretation of the ‘Master Mind’ principles which you have so clearly described.”

—WOODROW WILSON, Former President of the United States of America

As a writer, I must be true to the nudge I felt in my spirit to crystallize this message and make it available to you. But as a fellow reader, I would encourage you to find Napoleon Hill’s Book and read it, especially chapter 10 that talks specifically about “Master Minding”.

What Is Master Minding?

The easiest description I can give of Master Minding in my part of the world is “Wedding Meetings”. Two guys become victims of each other’s emotions. They decide that they cannot live without one another (not just live with one another). So when they cannot hold their excitement of the bright future to themselves any longer, they invite friends and loved ones to help. They set a goal and a vision that describes the most perfect ceremony that they can imagine that will help them crystallize their desire into reality. Before you know it, a Master Mind group has been formed.

And guess what? This is repeated over and over again daily. [ictt-tweet-inline]Averagely, a Ugandan will participate in at least 15 of such Master Mind Groups in his entire life![/ictt-tweet-inline] Like I normally dramatize, the crucial part of the ceremony takes less than a minute: “Do you take him?” asks the priest. “I do”, replies the lady in a mellow voice. “Do you take her?” the priest turns to the man. “I do”, replies the man in a confident tone. “I now pronounce you man and wife, you may kiss the bride” Never mind how many times they have been kissing anyway! Then something terrible happens! The whole Master Mind Group disperses, never to meet again for any progressive gig!

Billy Graham, What a man!

My estimation is that 99.99% of all these Master Mind Groups never fail. In fact, I was part of one where the designated treasurer disappeared with all the funds we collected, but the vision and the goal we had was hit right on the money! I am telling you, there is great power in the Master Mind groups!

Power of a Master Mind

Power… refers to ORGANIZED effort, sufficient to enable an individual to transmute DESIRE into its monetary equivalent

—Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich

That power is found in the Master Mind. Further, Napoleon Hill gives us some examples where the power of the mastermind worked. I have highlighted but a few.

  • Through the assistance of his “Master Mind” group, Henry Ford had at his command all the specialized knowledge he needed to enable him to become one of the wealthiest men in America. It was not essential that he have this knowledge in his own mind. Surely no person who has sufficient inclination and intelligence to read a book of this nature can possibly miss the significance of this illustration.
  • Andrew Carnegie stated that he, personally, knew nothing about the technical end of the steel business; moreover, he did not particularly care to know anything about it. The specialized knowledge which he required for the manufacture and marketing of steel, he found available through the individual units of his MASTER MIND GROUP.

“The accumulation of great fortunes calls for POWER, and power is acquired through highly organized and intelligently directed specialized knowledge, but that knowledge does not, necessarily, have to be in the possession of the man who accumulates the fortune”.

Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich

I have some great visionary people that I always look up to. It turns out that each of them either created a Master Mind group, or they were part of one.

  • Jesus Christ has conquered the hearts of billions of people throughout History, proving that He is the real super power of all time. He did this by first setting up a Master Mind Group
  • Abraham Lincoln is one of my all-time favourite US Presidents. This great emancipator started his Presidency by first forming a weird Master Mind group incorporating all his rivals. He delivered specifically through this team.
  • Billy Graham is perhaps the greatest Preacher the world ever saw since Apostle Paul. It is said that Graham was part of a Master Mind group of six that checked one another. That is why you will never hear of a scandal involving this great man.

[ictt-tweet-inline]The mark of a great visionary is that they are always part of a Master Mind Group.[/ictt-tweet-inline] You can either form one or you can be invited in another. There are people that I know who are part of several Master Mind Groups at a go.

5 Areas Where you Can Mastermind

There are five Major Areas where you can Mastermind whether you are the creator of the mastermind of you have been invited into it

1. Where your Passion and Purpose Lies

The true measure of how passionate you are about your purpose, areas of natural gifts and talent or areas of your passion and pursuit is whether you have formed a mastermind or not.

The true measure of how passionate you are about your purpose, areas of natural gifts and talent or areas of your passion and pursuit is whether you have formed a mastermind or not.In the next article, we shall examine the 7 reasons why Master Minding is absolutely important. However, it is critical that once you have discovered your purpose or you have been clear about your difference on earth, form a Master Mind. 2. Where you are Pressed and Perturbed

[ictt-tweet-inline]If you solve a problem, you get paid.[/ictt-tweet-inline] There are very many problems that are bedeviling the social fabric of our time. In areas such as marriage, parenting, spirituality, business and entrepreneurship, governance and so on. If you have a problem in an area, let’s say you realize that you are a lousy husband and you really desire to be a king to her, Master Minding will help you. Either form a group in that area or be part of one that you have been invited to.

The same applies with the areas where you wanted to grow. If for example you wanted to improve yourself as a writer or as a speaker, it is only logical that you either form or join a Master Mind group in those areas.

3. Where you would create a Product or Business

Your interests in life might cause you to be entrepreneurial. If you wanted to change the world through the area of business, it is most certainly critical that you get like-minded people and be surrounded by their counsel. Examples of Carnegie and Ford will suffice here.

4. Where you Want to create a Legacy

[ictt-tweet-inline]One of our greatest psychological needs in life is contribution.[/ictt-tweet-inline] For example on the 7 mountains of influence (Education, Politics and Governance, Religion, Business, Media, the Arts/Sports/Entertainment and the Family), I feel so inclined to the sphere of “Education”. I desire to build Universities of a kind across Africa to revolutionize our thinking. I will most definitely need to be part of a Master Mind Group in this area.

5. Where your current Assignment is

My current Assignment/Job/Vocation/Training or whatever is the seed for my next level. If I want to venture into the next level, it is important that I utilize my current platform well.

If I want to venture into the next level, it is important that I utilize my current platform well.

The best way to do this is to be part of a Master Mind there. Now, I am not talking about attending meetings at work. I am talking about being part of a group of people who are keen on moving the organization forward…and you might not necessarily draw extra income for this.

Friends, there is so much to write about Master Minding. I will leave you with these thoughts above and we shall continue deliberating on the subject for the next few days.
