In a previous post, we gave the Life Signatures’ meaning of the word Irreplaceable. Here it is:
The enduring thought on this subject is that anybody can become irreplaceable. In fact, I do dare say that everyone was intended to become irreplaceable. However, there exists a big chasm between the intention of everyone being irreplaceable and the reality of how many people are indeed irreplaceable.
“That is the saddest part of the existence of the human race…is an exit from life with a whimper…never to be remembered”.
That is the saddest part of the existence of the human race. With all the intricacies woven in the human biological body, with a mind sharper than the fastest computer (even while at sleep), with a mandate to have dominion on earth, the saddest part of the human existence is an exit from life with a whimper…never to be remembered.
In the last post, we saw that if you are to be irreplaceable, you need to be fully aware of the purpose of your existence.
Let’s move on with the next thing that you will need to master in order to be irreplaceable.
I wrote some time back about the wars that we need to fight. The message is that even when there is peace in the world, there is one battle that a soul must wage and win. And that is the battle of self conquest!
It is not just enough to know your purpose as advocated for in the previous post. Contrary to popular belief, knowledge is not power. It is knowledge acted upon that gives real personal power. If you and I are going to be irreplaceable, we must take one long and hard look at “The Man in The Mirror” and make sure that he is conquered.
Michael Jackson sang and said the following:
I’m Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
I’m Asking Him To Change
His Ways
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change
(Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change)
One word is used to summarize this concept of conquering oneself: Discipline. Discipline is an internal resolve to focus FIRST on what get’s you closer to your goals and purpose and in the process put away all that are secondary. Consistent discipline builds a character that is unshakable that feeds your momentum.
There are several sub topics that are key to laying the foundation of discipline.
This involves getting the vision, prioritizing, allocating resources and time, and setting the foundation upon which all your actions will be based. It is incredibly important.
You can plan but you need also to track your plan. A plan not reviewed is not worth planning. Of course when it comes to implementing, you will find that not all that you planned will go exactly as you envisioned, but at least the plan gives you the map of how your day or week or month or quarter needs to look like. Tracking shows you if you are deviating from the course or if you are on course, if you are getting late or if you are on schedule.
This is a major value if you are going to be irreplaceable. Someone said that success is found in what you are doing daily. You cannot build momentum if there is no resolve and a fight to have it built. There is great resistance when you start building momentum, however, once it is up there, the force generated is so great that the whole world stands aside to watch you come alive. This is one of the greatest fights that must be won if you will have to be irreplaceable. Notice here that momentum is of necessity applied on something…not many things. Just one thing. Which means that if you are vacillating from one thing or focus to another, it becomes very difficult to build momentum. In fact, what comes out is mediocrity instead.
So as you can see, the PURPOSE of living itself is key. Get it and give it momentum. Fight all you have to and get momentum for it. In fact, if there is only one thing that I can give advice to ANYBODY in the whole world, this would be the advice. Find purpose and pursue it relentlessly!
