Silver Bullet! One System Used to Excel in Anything

If I was teaching any child, this message would be a “Screen saver”.

T

here is so much to be found about the word System on this blog. Why is that? I talk mostly about three aspects of life here: Purpose, Productivity and Resilience. These three are the major ingredients needed to generate a life of legacy. I believe that if someone finds their purpose in life, it will tell so much on their productivity. I also know that life throws us curve balls all the time and therefore we have to rise up every time we fall. That is why resilience is important.

Let me ask a question. What do you think is the common denominator with these three aspects of Life Signatures? I will tell what: Intentionality!

If you wanted to be successful in anything that you are doing, for the most part you have to be intentional about it. It goes without saying. However, being intentional alone is not enough. “Zeal without knowledge is dangerous”. That is where the System comes in play. Fortunately for us, this system that I am suggesting is applicable in just about any area that you wish to succeed in.

The System

The System= Insight + Goals+ Planning+ Activity+ Time+ Tracking

The problem with many people is that they are fully engaged in many activities but they lack insight. In the end they do get some results that are not necessarily what I call Legacy Results. How do I know this: The disillusionment that many people face daily after seemingly “achieving” or “arriving” as we like to say.

System+ Time= Legacy Results

Activity-Insight=Delusion (Irrelevant results)

Let us unpack the formula of the system:

1. Insight

This is what Abraham Lincoln had in mind when he said the following:

“If I am given 6 hours to chop down a tree, I would probably spend 4 hours sharpening my axe”

Nothing is more torturous in this world than activity without insight. That is why the preacher said,

“Meaningless, meaningless, absolutely meaningless, everything is meaningless”!

Insight is a function of clarity of purpose. It gives you the why of doing something. One of my favorite authors Dutch Sheets (I told him that when I grow up, I want to write like him, and he wished me well) says,

“The why of doing something can be a great motivational force”

Why do Christians clap their hand? Why do they say, “Hallelujah”? Why do they “Pray in tongues?” Have you ever seen a Christian going through the motions of religion with no insight why they are doing that? It is tantamount to slavery.

The same applies to any pursuit of success in any field. Why are you doing what you are doing today? Why are you even reading Life Signatures? What is the insight behind it? Insight has to do with the knowledge of purpose, vision, mission and values of a course. [ictt-tweet-inline]If you do not have insight, you have no business engaging in an activity[/ictt-tweet-inline], unless of course you are a prisoner!

So the first ingredient of the System is Insight. Before you can play the piano, sing in the choir, start a business, get married, raise children, write about…[ictt-tweet-inline]whatever your pursuit, in order to escape delusion get insight first. Then get started.[/ictt-tweet-inline]

2. Goals

Incidentally, I wrote an article about this for Influencive specifically focusing on systems rather than resolutions at the beginning of 2017. That article greatly demystifies the subject of goal setting. Please check it out.

Brian Tracy says,

[ictt-tweet-inline] “Success is all about goals, everything else is just commentary” [/ictt-tweet-inline]

Further, the Publisher of Success Magazine, Darren Hardy has interviewed the top achievers in many fields in life. He has come to conclude that there are two main traits of high achievers:

Goals should only be set one you have insight. It takes quite a while to gain insight of the direction you want to take. Here is the beautiful part though: Once the insight has been acquired, you do not need to look for it anymore for the rest of your life. You just build on it, adding knowledge, experience and so on. But the template is already there to be built on. So build on your insight using goals.

3. Plan

This is where we start generating heat. Getting insight and goals is the simple part (although many people find it hard). The real work begins with the planning. My mentor, the late Dr. Myles Munroe says:

[ictt-tweet-inline]”Success is waiting for a plan…planning is more work than working”[/ictt-tweet-inline]

I couldn’t agree more. Strategizing, planning and working out the insight is what separates people from the rest of the crowd. We all know the adage, “Failure to plan is planning to fail”. [ictt-tweet-inline]So since we are always planning, we would rather be intentional and conscious about it.[/ictt-tweet-inline] Planning is one of the most crucial cogs in the wheel of the system of success.

4. Action

Aha! So you can see where I have come from. First we had insight, then we got some goals and then we have a strategy. So now what are we waiting for? It is time for “Lights, Camera, Action!” Many people are involved in this part…but many are lacking the first three components. The Success System is daily put to use through taking daily massive action (DMA). Again, this action is dictated by step 3 above. So if you are a writer for example, your action points would be say, writing 3 articles daily. Daily is the key. If you are not doing it daily, then the system tends to run into a lull. It is good to be as busy as a bee daily on your craft.

5. Tracking

Jim Rohn said,

[ictt-tweet-inline] “A life not reviewed is not worth living” [/ictt-tweet-inline]

I couldn’t agree more. So this is a crucial pillar in the success system. The actions in step 4 above have to be qualitatively and quantitatively reviewed and tracked. You need to know the kind of progress you are making. One of my personal favorite quotes (original with me) is this:

[ictt-tweet-inline] “Nothing is more inspirational than to see on a daily basis, my own personal graph of improvement”[/ictt-tweet-inline]”

Tracking has to be intentional. It offers you feedback so you can intelligently go at it again the following day.

6. Time

I think one of the greatest quotes I have heard this week is from Dr. Mike Murdock. He says,

[ictt-tweet-inline]”Time is really necessary where there is no knowledge” ~ Dr. Mike Murdock[/ictt-tweet-inline]

What he is saying is that when you do not have insight, you will need a lot of time to succeed. When you do have insight however, the time factor is greatly reduced. All in all, any success is always over time. I am not one of those preachers or “motivational speakers” who are championing instant success. Why? Not even God did it with the human race. He started with one man. Then he put systems in place. He put laws and principles to be obeyed. As man grows and obeys the principles, he gets successful. Do not ever think that you will put my system into place today and go sit somewhere by the beach and wait for results to churn out tomorrow. It will take time. So you need patience.

Friends, that is the system I present to you today. If I was teaching any child, this message would be a “Screen saver”.

Over to you.
